Our room at the Tamarack was fully decorated in the Christmas spirit. We had a nice visit from the President of the Midtown Club, Reid Riker. Reid is actually a Canadian citizen working here on a green card. He showed us his  card which was the first time several of us had seen one.
We also had a visit from Izy a McQueen High School student who is a member of their ROTC program.
Her purpose was to collect food or cash for the Northern Nevada Food Bank. Beside the food brought to her by our Club the can was passed
around for donations which came to $89.00. Way to go members!!

Our speaker for the evening was Jennifer Cunningham, Interim Director for the RSCVA.  In the past the authority had received a million dollars to promote Reno.  They will be receiving an increase to four million for marketing our City. For the past three years our visitors have been increasing to approximately 4.7 million last year. The conventions and other draws are huge for our area. RSCVA's funds come primarily from the room tax. Many good ideas are being formed with help from a consulting firm.

We heard from Ralph Koss and Lynn Johnson on events scheduled for December. Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army and Wreaths Across America are December 12th.  Ralph is collecting Toys to be distributed by the Truckee Meadows Boys and Girls Club.  Lynn took additional sign ups for our Christmas Party on December 15th. Ralph also explained an offer by Amazon. You will need to contact Ralph for the details but I believe Rotarians will be extended a 5% discount of which 1/2 of 1% would go to our Foundations.

D. J. Dave Zybert tested our memories of songs from the past.  I have to say several of them reminded me of youthful times. We had some shameless plugs and our guest Midtown President Reid Riker had a good joke for us.  The white marble was
drawn by Ken Petring.  Maybe some one will get an early Christmas present this year if they can capture the red one.
See you Tuesday for a report from our own Club Foundation. I was told our Club made the District news letter in December so when you receive it check it out.
